Charity orchestral playdays

Life-saving Symphonies are orchestral playdays, bringing together musicians to explore great symphonies while raising money for life-saving charities

We enjoy exploring lesser-played works, which have included Louise Farrenc Symphony 3 and the first UK amateur performance of Emilie Mayer Symphony 7

We began life online during the pandemic, performing 22 symphonies together. Between our vitual symphonies and our LSS playdays, we have raised ,more than £11,000 for charity.

Alice Mary Smith Symphony in C Minor

ALICE MARY SMITH

SYMPHONY in C MINOR

On Saturday 1st November 2025, join us in Corsham Town Hall to explore this beautiful, under-played symphony.

Alice Mary Smith is the first known British woman to write a symphony. A pioneer in 19th-century England, she wrote two symphonies, six concert overtures, choral works, and a significant body of chamber music.

Her C minor symphony is both energetic and graceful:
join us to spend a day exploring this less-known work.

Participation is free, raising money for Cancer Research UK. CRUK’s mission is to bring about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. Every penny donated on the day will support their vital, life-saving work.
